About me ♥ About me ♥

Hello! I'm Ana Karina Chavez, a seasoned professional in social services with a newfound passion for accessible design. Throughout my career, I've been dedicated to advocating for marginalized communities, implementing programs, and leading staff in preventing child abuse.

Recently, I've embarked on a journey into accessible design, driven by a deep-seated belief in inclusivity and equal access for all. This interest stems from my commitment to making a tangible difference in people's lives by ensuring that environments and products are usable by everyone, regardless of their abilities or limitations.

As I continue to explore the intersection of social services and accessible design, I am excited about the possibilities of making meaningful contributions to both fields.

  • I'm from Orange, California :)

  • I am one of three children from immigrant parents. I am a proud Mexican American (go Latinasss) who is now raising two awesome kids along with my husband.

  • Well, it wasn't always design - I admit. My professional career started in social services working with Radiant Futures where I provided psychoeducational group facilitation for survivors of domestic violence. Most recently, I was employed for FaCT, a division of Orange County Social Service, and the Institute for Healthcare Advancement to provide parent psychoeducational classes for the prevention of child abuse.

Now, ten years after the start of my professional career, I am excited to change course into design - a passion I have always had. Creativity has always been at the core of who I am. From a young age, I've found joy in creating things, whether it's designing innovative solutions for social challenges or crafting physical objects that bring beauty and functionality into everyday life. This creative drive fuels my passion for accessible design, where I strive to blend aesthetics with usability to create environments and products that enhance the lives of individuals with diverse needs.
